The Houthi group affiliated with Iran announced a short while ago that it had carried out what it described as a qualitative military operation, “targeting the ship (BLUE LAGOON I) in the Red Sea.”
In the statement broadcast by its military spokesman, Yahya Saree, this evening, it indicated that the operation was carried out “with a number of suitable missiles and a number of drones, and it was directly hit,” as he put it.
The Houthi statement did not mention a targeting operation that Reuters said was attacked by the Saudi oil ship "Amjad" along with the ship "Blue Lagoon Eye" flying the Panama flag, while they were sailing close to each other off the western coast of Yemen.
>The agency quoted two sources as saying, “The two tankers (Amjad), which flies the flag of Saudi Arabia, and (Blue Lagoon A), which flies the flag of Panama, were sailing close to each other when they were hit, but the two tankers were able to continue their journeys without major damage or injuries to personnel.” On board.
Reuters said: “The Saudi National Shipping Group, which owns Amjad, has not responded to a request for comment yet, and the maximum capacity of the tanker is two million barrels.”
She added: “It has not yet been possible to obtain a comment from the Greek company (Sea Trade Marine SA), which operates the ship (Blue Lagoon A), which has a capacity of one million barrels.”
One of the sources told the agency that it is unlikely that the tanker (Amjad) was a direct target.
