The Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center at the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology confirmed, in its warning weather bulletin issued today, Tuesday 9/3/2024, that satellite images, numerical model outputs, upper atmosphere layers, and surface monitoring indicate that our country will be affected by a wet eastern wave.
Accordingly, the Center expects - God willing - within the next 72 hours the following:
1) Rainfall of varying intensity, some of which is thunderstorm and accompanied by strong winds, over parts of the highlands, plateaus and deserts of the governorates of Al-Mahra, Hadramaut, Shabwa and Abyan, with the possibility of it extending to the coasts.
2) Thunderstorms, some of them heavy, falling on parts of the highlands and western slopes from Saada in the north to Taiz, Al-Dhale’ and Lahj in the south, and extending west to the coasts.
3) Strong winds stirring sand and dust on the Socotra Archipelago and areas within the range of thunderclouds.
The Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center warned citizens and vehicle drivers against being in valleys and flood streams, and driving on slippery mud roads in areas where rain is expected. He also warned against approaching electricity poles, billboards, and trees, stressing the need to turn off mobile phones during thunderstorms.
He also warned of wind activity that stirs up sand and dust during thunderstorms and precipitation, and in areas within the influence of thunderclouds.
The center stated that it is following developments in the weather situation over the next 24 hours, indicating that it will provide it with the latest developments, God Almighty willing.
The Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center called on the media and citizens to adopt the information issued by the official authorities, represented by the Meteorology Sector of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology.
