Adeni journalist Munir Mustafa, through his account on the social networking site Facebook, criticized the treatment to which retirees in the city of Aden are subjected while receiving their monthly salaries.
Mustafa posted a picture showing a large number of elderly people crowding in front of one of the exchange offices, and commented: “This is the condition of retirees in Aden. They are forced to stand in long lines in front of the exchange offices to receive their monthly salaries, as if they are begging and not citizens who gave their lives to serve their country.” ".
Mustafa pointed out that these retirees worked for many years in various government institutions, and were exposed to chronic diseases due to advanced age, but they do not find anyone who appreciates their efforts and preserves their dignity.
Mustafa wondered: “Don’t these retirees have the right to receive their pensions with dignity and comfort? Isn’t it the duty of the responsible authorities to provide them with a suitable environment in which to pay their salaries?”
Mustafa called on the concerned authorities to take the necessary measures to improve the conditions of retirees and provide better mechanisms for disbursing their salaries, in a way that preserves their dignity and takes into account their health conditions.
