English Manchester City star Erling Haaland and the Norwegian national team started their campaign in the European Nations League in a disappointing manner, after a goalless draw against Kazakhstan, in the third group of the second level, on Friday.
The Norwegian team entered its match, which was held at Ortalik Stadium in the Kazakh city of Almaty, aspiring to make a strong start, as it seeks to make up for its failure to qualify for the last European Cup in Germany.
The Norwegian team dominated most of the match, but luck was on its side as Haaland missed his first serious chance, after his header went over the crossbar (24).
Despite the brilliance of Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard, in playmaking and passing, the Norwegian team lacked scoring prowess, so Haaland missed a number of opportunities, after he had four shots in the match. Perhaps the most notable of these was his shot from close range nine minutes into the second half, which passed just past the goal.
The Scandinavian national team will play its second match, on Tuesday, at home, with a difficult confrontation against Austria.
In the second group of the third level, Cyprus defeated its host Lithuania 1-0.
