The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism in the Yemeni government, Muammar Al-Eryani, confirmed that the kidnapping of employees of the World Food Program and Oxfam in Saada Governorate by the terrorist Houthi militia is a continuation of the policy of pressure on international organizations and directing their activities to their goals.
Al-Eryani considered that the lenient international stance towards the Houthis encouraged the escalation of these violations.
Al-Eryani pointed out that since June, the Houthis have kidnapped more than 50 international and Yemeni employees, some of whom forcibly disappeared for more than 100 days, without bringing clear charges. Al-Eryani called on the international community to take a firm stance, exert serious pressure to release the abductees, and transfer the offices of international organizations to the liberated areas to ensure the safety of workers and achieve greater effectiveness in providing humanitarian aid.
Al-Eryani called for escalating the issue internationally, and imposing additional sanctions on the Houthi leaders, in addition to classifying them as a global terrorist organization.
