Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Sunday, with a number of international officials on the sidelines of the meetings of the seventy-ninth session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In his meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and prospects for strengthening them in various fields were discussed, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional issues and developments of common interest.
Alimi also met, along with Council members Aidroos Al-Zubaidi and Othman Majli, the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, where they discussed developments in the two countries and ways to coordinate positions in regional and international forums, especially with regard to efforts to stop the crimes of the Israeli occupation and accelerate the entry of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. President Al-Alimi affirmed Yemen's firm and supportive position on the Palestinian issue and the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state. The meeting was attended by the Yemeni Foreign Minister, the Yemeni delegate to the United Nations, and a number of Palestinian officials.
In another meeting, President Al-Alimi met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, where they touched on bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed developments in the situation in Yemen, including the mediation efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to launch a comprehensive political process.
