Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and with Council member Othman Majali, received the United States Special Envoy to Yemen, Timothy Lenderking.

During the meeting, they discussed developments in the Yemeni situation, including the ongoing terrorist escalation by the Houthi militias and their gross violations of human rights, in addition to the efforts of brothers and friends to launch a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council heard a briefing from the American envoy on the results of his recent contacts, to reduce the escalation in Yemen and the region, and the options presented to push the Houthi militias to seriously engage with regional and international efforts to end the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The meeting also touched on coordinated efforts with the international community to release United Nations employees and civil society leaders kidnapped by terrorist militias supported by the Iranian regime.
