The Prosecution of Industry and Commerce, in the capital, Aden, today destroyed more than one million five hundred thousand vials, ampoules, and packages of medicines unfit for human use, to be transported using dry iron containers in Criminal Case No. (47) G.C.
The destruction process was supervised by the Deputy Prosecutor for Industry and Commerce, Judge Dr. Somaya Al-Qubati, along with a committee from various relevant authorities. The destruction included many types of medicines, including Ametic, Unapsin, Eutaxime, Unitrax, Ost, and Clavotec tablets.
During the destruction process, Judge Dr. Somaya Al-Qubati confirmed the prosecution’s keenness to adhere to standards for transporting and storing medicines and their suitability for human use, and not to tolerate those who violate regulations and laws... stressing the need for merchants and importers to feel the extent of the responsibility they bear towards the citizen and the nation.
The Deputy Prosecutor for Industry and Trade in Aden said: “This destruction comes within a series of destructions of a number of cases of importing medicines in violation of transportation and storage conditions, as the prosecution began investigating these incidents at the request of His Excellency the Public Prosecutor, and the procedures were followed up by a member of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Sabah Alwan. Under the supervision of the Chief Prosecutor of Appeals in South Aden, Judge Waddah Badhib, this had a positive impact as we saw the merchants’ commitment to importing medicines in accordance with the regulations and laws.”
