The Houthi group announced the implementation of two military operations against two commercial ships in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean, bringing the number of naval operations announced since the beginning of this October to five.
The group’s military spokesman said: Yahya Saree said in a statement that his forces carried out on Thursday “two military operations targeting two ships in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, as a victory for the oppression of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance, and in response to the American-British aggression against Yemen.”
Sarie added that the first operation targeted the American oil ship OLYMPIC SPIRIT with 11 ballistic missiles and two drones, while it was passing through the Red Sea, “resulting in a direct and severe hit on the ship.”
He pointed out that the second operation targeted the ship (ST.JOHN) with a winged missile in the Indian Ocean, “because the company that owns it violated the decision to ban entry to the ports of occupied Palestine, and the hit was direct.”
The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority (UKMTO) had previously reported that it had received a report that the ship “Olympic Sprite” had been involved in an accident while sailing in the Red Sea, 70 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah, and the captain was informed that a missile projectile had targeted a tower. While driving the ship, causing damage to it without recording human casualties, while naval sources confirmed that the ship carried quantities of petrochemicals and was flying the Liberian flag.
Sarie reiterated his group’s continuation of “imposing a naval blockade on the Israeli enemy, and continuing to target ships in the area of naval operations until the aggression against the Gaza Strip and Lebanon stops.”
