The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center “Masam” project to clear Yemeni lands of mines during the second week of October 2024 was able to remove 630 mines in various regions of Yemen, including 3 anti-personnel mines, 28 anti-tank mines, and 598 Unexploded ordnance and one explosive device.
The “Masam” team was able to remove 196 unexploded ordnance in Aden Governorate, and in the Sanah District in Al-Dhalea Governorate, the team removed one explosive device, and in the Hays District in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, one anti-personnel mine and 6 anti-tank mines were removed, and in Al-Waht District in the Al-Hudaydah Governorate. In Lahj, 10 unexploded ordnance were removed, and in Harib District, Ma’rib Governorate, the team removed 20 anti-tank mines and 300 unexploded ordnance.
In Shabwa Governorate, the team removed one anti-tank mine and one unexploded ordnance in Usaylan District, and one anti-personnel mine in Bayhan District.
In Taiz Governorate, the team removed one anti-personnel mine, one anti-tank mine, and one unexploded ordnance in Dhubab District, and removed 90 unexploded ordnances in Cairo District.
Thus, the number of mines removed during the month of October rises to 2,209 mines, while the number of mines removed since the beginning of the “Masam” project has increased until now to 465,882 mines that were planted randomly in various Yemeni lands to claim more innocent victims, including children, women, and the elderly.
