The Masam project to clear Yemeni lands of mines announced that its engineering teams removed more than 800 explosive remnants of war last week.
The project operations room said in its weekly statement, Sunday, that demining teams were able to remove a total of 829 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive remnants of war, in the period (12 - 18) October 2024.
The statement added that the explosive materials that were removed last week included 777 unexploded ordnance and 49 anti-tank mines, in addition to two explosive devices and one anti-personnel mine, and 184,610 square meters of land were cleared in the same period.
The project manager indicated; Osama Al-Gosaibi said that the total explosive materials removed by technical teams since the beginning of this October reached 3,038 items. Including 2,817 unexploded ordnance, 203 anti-tank mines, and 9 other anti-personnel mines, in addition to 9 improvised explosive devices, with an area of 697,974 square meters of land cleared in the same period.
Al-Gosaibi added that the demining teams working in the project succeeded in removing and destroying 466,711 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices, and neutralizing more than 60,966,325 square meters of Yemeni territory that had been booby-trapped with explosive remnants of war, during the period between mid-June and June 2018 and October 18, 2024.
