The Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center at the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology confirmed, in its warning weather bulletin issued this evening, Tuesday 10/22/2024, that satellite images, numerical model outputs, upper atmosphere layers, and surface monitoring indicate that our country will be affected by thunderstorms and winds. Severe weather due to tropical strike east of the Gulf of Aden during the coming hours.
Accordingly, the Center expects - God willing - during the next four days the following:
1) Thunderstorms of varying intensity fell on various areas of the coasts, highlands, internal plateaus, and deserts of the governorates (Al-Mahra, Hadramaut, and Socotra), and then extended to reach the governorates of (Shabwa, Abyan, and Al-Bayda) in addition to the governorate of Aden.
2) Continuing thunderstorms accompanied by strong downward winds on the highlands, slopes and western coastal plains, from Saada in the north to Taiz, Al-Dhalea and Lahj in the south, in addition to parts of the Ma’rib and Al-Jawf governorates.
The Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center warned citizens and vehicle drivers against being in the depths of valleys and flood streams, and walking on slippery mud roads in areas where rain is expected. It also warned against approaching electricity poles, billboards, and trees, stressing the necessity of turning off mobile phones. During thunderstorms.
The center also warned of wind activity that stirs up sand and dust during thunderstorms and precipitation, and in areas within the influence of thunderclouds.
