A member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Saleh Al Mahrami (Abu Zara), assigned a team headed by Mr. Jaber Muhammad to go to the Customs Authority in the capital, Aden, with the aim of discussing the challenges facing Customs and searching for solutions to overcome them.
The team met with the Director of Customs in the capital, Mr. Mohsen Qahtan, and the Director of Free Zone Police Security, Brigadier General Jamal Dayan.
During the meeting, the most prominent difficulties facing customs work were discussed, and ways to enhance cooperation between the concerned authorities to facilitate procedures and develop customs performance.
The Director of Customs praised the great role played by Brigadier General Jamal Dayan since assuming his duties in implementing the directives of Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Al-Muharami, which stipulated the removal of the illegal collection point in the container port precinct.
The Director of Customs confirmed that these measures constituted a qualitative shift in cooperation between customs and free zone security, noting that there have been major changes in the nature of the relationship between the two sides, which have rebuilt bridges of coordination between customs and security, which will contribute directly to strengthening customs security and organizing Trade movement.
The Customs Director explained that this step represents an encouraging beginning for strengthening the partnership between the various security and customs authorities, which would have a positive impact on the trade movement.
He also appreciated the efforts made to activate oversight and prevent the collection of any illegal taxes, noting that these measures aim to protect the commercial sector.
For his part, the head of the designated team, Mr. Jaber Muhammad, confirmed that the directives of Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Al-Muharami came in response to demands from the commercial sector and citizens for the need to improve customs procedures and organize the collection of duties and levies.
He added that the team will continue to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations and ensure continued coordination between customs and free zone security to achieve the desired goals.
In conclusion, the attendees expressed their optimism about the improvement in customs and security conditions, stressing that continuous coordination will contribute to creating a better work environment and enhance the port’s ability to provide its services more effectively and efficiently.
