The poor condition of Yafaa Road, which connects the southern and northern governorates, has caused great suffering for drivers and many accidents for years.

Drivers said that the road became impassable, as many vehicles got stuck on it, and a number of drivers were injured.

They added that the deep holes in the road caused many traffic accidents, leading to injuries and material losses.

Muhammad Al-Yafei, a resident of Al-Hadd, says that truck and vehicle rollover accidents have become observed daily on the Yafa line, which poses a danger to drivers and road users.

Truck traffic has been diverted from the Aden-Yafa line in the northern governorates due to the closure of some roads. The Yafaa road is not suitable for truck traffic, and their daily traffic has greatly increased the deterioration of the line.

Citizens reported that a team from the Road and Bridge Maintenance Fund visited the road, conducted an assessment of the road’s condition, and announced the start of rehabilitation work.

They explained that rehabilitation work has not yet begun, despite the passage of several months since its announcement.

They called on the competent authorities to quickly repair the road and develop urgent solutions to prevent more accidents.

It is noteworthy that there are dozens of collection points for fees, levies, and scales, which are taken from truck owners for the purpose of repairing the road, but the amounts go to a place other than the place designated for them.
