Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Foreign Minister, discussed on Sunday the repercussions of the dangerous situation in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings, with the foreign ministers of Iran, France, Sri Lanka, Spain, Malta, Thailand, South Africa and Belgium, each separately.
The minister received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and both sides called for the importance of the international community playing its role to achieve a ceasefire and protect civilians, in light of the escalating pace of military operations. The call also reviewed bilateral relations and ways to develop them in various fields.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan made a phone call with his French counterpart, Catherine Colonna, during which he appreciated France’s support for the United Nations resolution, issued last Friday, which aims for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of an urgent humanitarian truce in the besieged Gaza Strip, while committing to International laws and norms and international humanitarian law.
Military escalation
The two ministers discussed developments in the military escalation in the Gaza Strip, and the importance of enabling humanitarian and relief organizations to deliver urgent and necessary aid to the residents of the Strip, in addition to discussing the importance of supporting political solutions to end the crisis in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
The Saudi Minister also appreciated Sri Lanka’s support for the United Nations resolution, which aims for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of an urgent humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip, during his call with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabri. The two ministers discussed developments in the situation in Gaza and the importance of the international community playing its role to achieve a ceasefire, protect civilians, and enable humanitarian and relief organizations to deliver urgent and necessary aid to the Strip.
An urgent humanitarian truce
Prince Faisal bin Farhan made a phone call to Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez, in which he thanked his counterpart for Spain’s support of the United Nations resolution, issued last Friday, for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of an urgent humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip. The two ministers discussed developments in the dangerous situation in the besieged sector, and the importance of the international community playing its role to achieve a ceasefire and protect civilians. They stressed the importance of pushing all efforts to stop bloodshed, protect civilians, stop military operations, and prevent the worsening of the humanitarian crisis.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also made a phone call to the Maltese Foreign Minister, Ian Borg, appreciating Malta’s support for the United Nations resolution, issued last Friday, stressing the importance of the international community playing its role to achieve an immediate ceasefire, and to push all efforts towards stopping bloodshed and protecting... defenseless civilians, preventing the worsening of the humanitarian crisis, and strengthening international action to return to the path of comprehensive and just peace.
