The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Dr. Shaye’ Al-Zindani, received today, in the temporary capital, Aden, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, Arsenio Dominguez.
Minister Al-Zindani welcomed the visit of the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization to the capital, Aden, noting its importance as the first visit of the head of the organization to Yemen that contributes to strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the organization and Yemen, especially in light of the increasing challenges facing international navigation in the region.
p>The two sides reviewed the security situation in the Red Sea and the ongoing threats facing commercial ships as a result of Houthi attacks in this vital sea lane, and ways to support Yemen in confronting the environmental risks that threaten the marine environment, as a result of recent developments and Houthi threats in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.< /p>
The two sides also discussed ways to enhance the capabilities of agencies concerned with maritime security and safety in Yemen, and raise the efficiency of the Coast Guard to face the escalating challenges.
