Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council, received today, Thursday, Mr. Sarhad Fattah, Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and his accompanying delegation.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Kathiri welcomed Sarhad’s visit to the capital, Aden, and reviewed with him the developments in the political, economic and military situation in the country, and the efforts made by the United Nations to stop the war and prepare for a comprehensive dialogue to bring peace.
The meeting discussed the negative repercussions of the economic collapse and the deterioration of the level of services, as a result of the cessation of oil exports as a result of the Houthi militia’s targeting of export ports. Al-Kathiri stressed the Transitional Council's openness to all efforts to end the war, while emphasizing the importance of the issue of the people of the South.
Al-Kathiri also called on the international community to take a firm stance against the Houthi attacks, which are considered a threat to international peace and security. For his part, Mr. Sarhad expressed his thanks to the Transitional Council for its efforts in support of peace and its readiness to deal with proposals to resolve the crisis.
The meeting was attended by a number of leaders and stakeholders from the Transitional Council.
