The capital, Aden, witnessed a widespread power outage, after most power plants went out of service due to running out of fuel.
Informed sources at the General Electricity Corporation confirmed that the President station, along with a number of diesel-powered generation stations, had completely stopped working. The sources indicated that the remaining stations will also stop working during the next few hours, which means that the entire city will be plunged into complete darkness.
The sources warned of dire consequences if this situation continues, stressing the need for urgent intervention from the government and the relevant authorities to provide the fuel necessary to operate the power plants, and avoid exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
The General Electricity Corporation called on the Presidential Council and the government to take the necessary measures to provide the fuel necessary to operate the generation plants, and to work to find radical solutions to the problem of recurring power outages in the city.
