The governor of Hadhramaut, Mabkhout bin Madi, condemned the killing of two Saudi soldiers and the wounding of a third, on Friday, in the first official announcement of the incident, the details of which are still vague.
Media sources reported, on Friday, that a Yemeni soldier opened fire on a number of Saudi soldiers among the duty forces in a camp in the city of Sayun, east of the country, killing two soldiers and wounding a third.
Governor Bin Madi said, in a condolence telegram to the joint command of the Arab coalition forces in Hadhramaut and to the families of the victims, that the Saudi soldiers “were martyred in the city of Sayun while stationed within the Al-Waheb forces to support stability and reconstruction efforts in continuation of the Kingdom’s great positions towards our country.”
The governor directed the commander of the First Military Region and the leaders of the military and security services in the valley, the desert, and the governorate to track down the perpetrators and arrest them so that they receive their deterrent punishment.
The governor’s statement was preceded by another statement by the Security and Police Department in the Hadhramaut Valley and Desert, in which it announced a financial reward of 30 million Yemeni riyals for anyone who arrests or provides information about the soldier, “Muhammad Saleh Al-Arousi,” who is accused of shooting Saudi soldiers.
