A soldier held captive by the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia died today as a result of being subjected to severe torture during his detention in a prison in the capital, Sanaa.
The “Musawa Organization for Rights and Liberties” reported in a statement that soldier Muhammad Muhammad Abdullah Hassan Suleiman (36 years old), from the Jabal al-Sharq District in Dhamar Governorate, died under torture in the militia’s Central Security Prison.
He was captured on the Sarwah front on June 4, 2020, where he was subjected to the worst types of psychological and physical torture, which led to the deterioration of his health.
The organization stated that the soldier left behind a wife and four children, and expressed its strong condemnation of this crime, noting that such violations are not new in the prisons of the Houthis, who follow a systematic policy against prisoners and detainees.
The organization also called on the international community to take urgent action to protect the prisoners and hold those involved in these crimes accountable, considering that these actions constitute a flagrant violation of the Third Geneva Convention regarding the treatment of prisoners of war.
