The UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, today, Tuesday, revealed the details of his meeting with Omani officials, along with the head of the Houthi negotiating delegation, in the Sultanate of Oman.
A statement from the Office of the UN Envoy said, “Special Envoy Hans Grundberg met yesterday in Muscat with senior Omani officials and (Houthi militia spokesman) Mohammed Abdul Salam.”
The statement, which was seen by the Yemeni scene, explained that the meeting “discussed measures aimed at addressing the economic crisis in Yemen, improving living conditions, and responding to regional tensions.”
“The discussions also explored ways to move forward on commitments for a comprehensive Yemeni political process,” according to the statement.
The statement added: “In his meeting with (the Houthis), Grundberg also called for the immediate and unconditional release of all United Nations employees and other arbitrarily detained people.”

The Islah Party stressed that peace efforts must focus on restoring state institutions, in accordance with the main references, and highlighted that a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire and confidence-building measures are essential steps in the path to establishing peace.
