The Security Council unanimously approved extending the sanctions regime in Yemen for another year, ending on November 15 of next year.
The Council said that it continues to support United Nations institutions to ensure effective implementation of sanctions and the arms embargo in accordance with Resolution Two Hundred and Sixteen.
He pointed out that these measures play an essential role in limiting the Houthis’ capabilities to destabilize Yemen, threaten the Red Sea, and impede peace, stressing the Council’s support for a comprehensive peace process in Yemen under the auspices of the United Nations.
In addition, the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, discussed with the Commander of the Saudi Joint Forces, Fahd Al-Salman, peace efforts in Yemen.

The UN envoy said that he had earlier held meetings in Muscat with Omani officials and Houthi leaders, to discuss the economic crisis and peace efforts in the country.
During his meeting with the Houthi leaders, he demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all United Nations employees and other arbitrarily detained persons.
