The southern armed forces announced that they were able to repel an attack carried out by elements against their military forces in the Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen.
In a press release published on the “Southern Shield” website today, Friday, the southern forces reviewed the details of the attack they carried out against terrorist elements, inflicting on them heavy losses.
She said in the statement: “Today, the southern armed forces thwarted an attack by members of the terrorist Al-Qaeda organization in Wadi Omran, east of the Mudiya district, east of Abyan Governorate.”
She added, "The terrorist elements attacked the position of the 3rd Support and Support Brigade towards the Al-Fareed area and the village of Surat Al-Mashayikh, which led to armed clashes between the brigade's forces and the terrorist enemy."
According to the statement, “These clashes resulted in the terrorist elements inflicting heavy casualties, forcing them to flee.”
The statement continued: “It deployed a wide deployment throughout the entire region for security purposes, and to track down terrorist elements fleeing towards the Lahmar area, and towards the Mawan road, from which a road branches off leading to the border areas with the governorates of Shabwa and Al-Bayda.”
