Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, member of the Presidential Command Council and Chairman of the Southern Transitional Council, met today with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and President Putin’s special envoy to the Middle East and Africa, His Excellency Mikhail Bogdanov.
The two sides discussed the challenges resulting from the Houthi escalation in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden, and the risks their attacks pose to food security in Yemen, in addition to their impact on maritime security and global trade.
Al-Zubaidi expressed his great appreciation for Russia’s keenness to open its embassy in the capital, Aden, stressing their readiness to provide all necessary facilities to the Russian mission’s staff, enabling them to carry out their tasks effectively.
Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two sides to confront common challenges, secure shipping lines and protect the interests of both countries in the region.
