The Yemeni Ambassador to the Arab League of Egypt, Khaled Bahah, discussed today, with the Egyptian Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for the International Cultural Relations Sector, Ambassador Yasser Shaaban, a number of common issues between the two sides, most notably the file of Yemeni schools in Egypt.
Ambassador Bahah reviewed the efforts made by the embassy in codifying the conditions of schools in accordance with the laws and regulations of the host country, and the embassy’s complete keenness to provide an appropriate educational service to the children of the community. He pointed out that closing schools at this time of the academic year caused the closure of more than six Thousands of students are at home and are being threatened with their exit from the educational system, at a time when they are facing difficulty in enrolling in Egyptian schools, which now require obtaining temporary residency before enrolling, unlike The common procedures that have been in place over the past years, which enable the student to obtain residency according to the academic enrollment certificate.
The meeting also discussed the issue of organizing the Yemeni Cultural Week in Cairo and its role in strengthening cultural ties between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, and it was decided to agree on setting a date and program of events during the coming period.
Ambassador Bahah reiterated the depth of the historical relations between our country and the Arab Republic of Egypt, which was and will remain one of the most important supporters of the cause of the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership... congratulating Ambassador Yasser Shaaban on assuming his new duties as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Cultural Relations Affairs.
For his part, the Egyptian Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Cultural Relations affirmed the ministry’s leadership’s interest in the Yemeni schools file and creating appropriate solutions to ensure the continuation of the educational process for the children of the Yemeni community... expressing complete openness to cooperation in cultural activities between the two countries during the coming period.
