Iran has categorically rejected Western accusations related to its role in the Red Sea disturbances, in response to accusations made by Western countries against Tehran of supporting the Houthis with weapons that target commercial ships in the region.
Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Ali Akbar Safai, during his speech before the International Maritime Organization meeting in London, expressed his criticism of what he described as some Western countries, especially the United States, exploiting the IMO platform to achieve political goals.
Safaei said, according to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), that these allegations are baseless and that they seek to justify American military interventions in Yemen. He also stressed Iran's commitment to maritime safety and freedom of navigation, calling for strengthening security in the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf.
The Iranian official indicated that the Houthis make their decisions independently based on their “interests and considerations,” denying any role for Tehran in the attacks targeting international shipping
