Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for the Houthi group, said on Tuesday that the group launched a missile attack on a ship in the Red Sea, but he did not specify the date or timing.
He added that the Houthis, allied with Iran, targeted “the ship (Anadolu S) in the Red Sea, with a number of appropriate ballistic and naval missiles, and the hit was accurate and direct.”
A ship passing through the Red Sea off Yemen reported that missiles had fallen into the sea near it on Sunday and yesterday, Monday.
Since November, the Houthis have continued to launch attacks with missiles and drones in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, which began first on commercial ships that they consider to be linked to Israel or heading to its ports. They say that this comes in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. They later began announcing the launch of missiles and drones towards “Israel” during the past months.
