In a step aimed at enhancing security and combating piracy, arms smuggling and organized crime, the United Kingdom announced on Tuesday a new support package for the Yemeni Coast Guard forces, which includes speedboats and areas of training and assistance. This announcement comes in the context of close cooperation between the international community and the Yemeni government to prevent piracy and smuggling operations that destabilize the security and stability of Yemen and the region.
This cooperation is based on long-term ties between the Republic of Yemen and the United Kingdom, which has pledged to provide larger packages of development support to the Yemeni people during the next phase.
In this context, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, appreciated the United Kingdom’s announcement of the new support package. In a blog post on the X platform, he expressed his high appreciation for this British support, which embodies the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries.
Alimi added that this support coincides with the generous sponsorship by Her Royal Highness Princess Sophie, and the United Nations, of the round table with Yemeni women in the areas of peace and security, which is at the forefront of efforts to restore state institutions, rebuild and advance Yemen.
