A soldier in the Southern Forces was martyred in Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen, as a result of a terrorist operation by Al-Qaeda members on one of the Southern Forces sites.
According to what was published by Al-Ain Newspaper, quoting a security source, elements affiliated with Al-Qaeda launched a terrorist operation today on the areas of the Southern Security Forces in Wadi Omran, east of the Mudiya District, Abyan.
The source added that a soldier affiliated with the southern forces was martyred while performing his duty in the Al-Kasara area in Wadi Omran of the Modiya District.
The source pointed out that the areas of Wadi Awamaran in Modiya District are where Al-Qaeda cells are widely active, while the southern forces continue to combat terrorism in those areas.
In mid-November, southern forces in Abyan Governorate thwarted an armed attack by members of the terrorist Al-Qaeda organization and forced them to flee.
The attack was launched by members of Al-Qaeda on a site belonging to the Third Brigade of Support and Support towards the Al-Fareed area and the village of Surat Al-Mashayikh in the Modiyah District, Abyan.
A terrorist explosion in mid-August, carried out by an al-Qaeda suicide car bomber, targeted the southern forces in the Mudiya district of Abyan, leaving about 12 martyrs and 20 injured from the forces of the Third Brigade, supporting and assisting the southern forces.
Also, on August 8 last, Al-Qaeda militants infiltrated and attempted to launch a surprise attack on the advanced positions of the Third Brigade Support and Support Stations at the outskirts of Wadi Refud, located to the eastern side of the mountainous town of “Wadi Omran,” east of the Modiya District, east of the governorate overlooking Arabian Sea.
