The Houthi group announced today (Thursday) that American and British fighters launched two air strikes on the coastal governorate of Hodeidah, while the leader of the group announced complete control over the prevention of Israeli navigation in the Red Sea, western Yemen.
Houthi media reported, “Today, the American-British coalition targeted the Bajil district of Hodeidah Governorate with two air strikes.”
The website did not provide further details.
The coastal governorate of Hodeidah on the Red Sea has been under the control of the Houthi group since October 2014.
The leader of the Houthi group, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, announced today, in a speech, 100 percent control in preventing Israeli navigation from the Red Sea.
He pointed out that during this period there was no longer any movement of Israeli ships or ships belonging to other countries and carrying goods for the “Israeli enemy.”
Al-Houthi considered that there was an economic cost to the “enemy” as a result of the very strong work of the Yemen Front in preventing Israeli maritime navigation from Bab al-Mandab.
Since November last year, the Houthis have launched military operations in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait against ships that the Houthi group says are Israeli or heading to Israel against the backdrop of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
In response to the Houthi attacks, the United States and Britain have launched a military operation since January 12, including air strikes and missile strikes against Houthi targets in Sanaa, Hodeidah, and other governorates under Houthi control in Yemen.
