US envoy Tim Lenderking said that his country is not looking for a military solution in Yemen at this particular time, indicating that pursuing that could bring more destruction to a country torn by years of war.

He explained to Business Insider that it is necessary to consider the impact on Yemeni civilians, the Yemeni economy and infrastructure, the ability to transport supplies, and the ability of commercial goods to reach Yemen.

Lenderking indicated that Washington is committed to ensuring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, stressing the need to stop Houthi attacks against ships.

For its part, American sources said that the US army’s battle with the Houthis has reached a dangerous dead end.

Business Insider noted that a year of intense fighting has not brought the United States any closer to ending the threat posed by the Houthis, noting that a more aggressive approach does not appear to be the desired path.

It showed that this conservative approach towards the ongoing Houthi crisis leaves the US army engaged in combat operations without a clear path to victory.

In addition, a Western analysis said that the United States and its partners should be concerned about continued cooperation between the Houthis and Russia.

The Atlantic Council added that this could lead to an expansion of the Houthis’ ability to threaten international shipping as well as US assets and its allies in the region.
