The official spokesman for the coalition forces to support legitimacy in Yemen, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, denied “allegations” of handing over the body of the brother of a Houthi leader.
Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki said in a press statement, “The coalition deals with the issue of prisoners and detainees and the recovery of the bodies of fighters as a purely humanitarian issue that must not be politicized by all parties, taking into account the values of tolerant Islamic law, humanitarian principles, and cultural and social norms.”
He explained that "what was stated in a statement by a Houthi leader and circulated by some Houthi-affiliated websites regarding the handing over of his brother's body is inaccurate and lacks credibility."
Al-Maliki added, according to the Saudi Press Agency, that “the process of recovering and handing over the bodies took place in June 2023, and through it the bodies of 9 martyrs of the Saudi forces and 20 martyrs of the Yemeni army were recovered, as well as the return and delivery of the bodies of 57 Houthi militants who were killed.” They were killed on the border."
The official spokesman for the coalition forces confirmed that "such statements are misleading, and may have been announced for internal reasons related to the Houthis, knowing that the name mentioned in the statement was not among the names presented during the negotiations to recover the bodies, and it is not unlikely that this name is among them."
