The death of the southern national figure and former minister Fadl Mohsen Abdullah

Fadl Mohsen Abdullah, the prominent southern national figure and former minister who held several ministerial portfolios and party positions during his busy career, died today. Abdullah held the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance for a long time, and was a member of the Political Bureau and the Central Committee of the Yemeni Socialist Party, and contributed to establishing a sports, cultural, and social club in Crater.

Fadl Mohsen Abdullah, known to his comrades as “Marouf,” was one of the knights of the October 14, 1963 Revolution and a symbol of the Yemeni national and labor movement. He joined the National Front for the Liberation of Occupied South Yemen and was one of the most prominent guerrilla and union leaders during the liberation phase. He participated in commando operations against the British occupation and was among the prominent union leaders.
Fadl Mohsen held several leadership positions after independence, including the first governor of the Fourth Governorate (currently Shabwa), Minister of Finance, President of the Supreme Council for Sports, Secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Council, and Minister of Agriculture. After the Yemeni unification on May 22, 1990, he was appointed Minister of Trade and Supply, before he was exposed to great troubles during the summer war of 1994.
A life journey full of situations:
Fadel Mohsen suffered from difficult circumstances and lost many members of his family in tragic accidents. His son Khaldoun was injured in an accident that paralyzed part of his body, and he lost his daughter Wahad and his son, sea captain Imad Fadl Mohsen, in the war. He also lost his young grandson, Fadl Khaldoun, Fadl Mohsen, in a painful accident in 2018. Fadl Mohsen spent his last years bedridden, following with regret the wars and disasters that took place in his homeland.
Fadl Mohsen Abdullah was an example of an honest fighter and a person dedicated to serving his country, and his memory will remain eternal in the hearts of his fans and comrades.
