America stresses the necessity of continuing the UN inspection mechanism to prevent the flow of weapons to the Houthis

The United States of America stressed the necessity of continuing the UN inspection mechanism to prevent the flow of weapons to the Houthi group in Yemen.
The US State Department said - in a statement - that "the UN mechanism remains necessary to confront the Houthis' violations of Security Council resolutions."
According to the statement, Washington's envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, met with partners and officials from the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism in Yemen in Djibouti.
The ministry stated that the Houthis are using land and sea networks to smuggle weapons and illegal components into Yemen with the help of Iran.
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Dr. Shaye’ Al-Zindani, called for firm international positions to be taken regarding arms smuggling operations to the Houthis.
Washington accuses Russia of supplying the Houthis with advanced weapons and said that "Moscow increasingly has its own political interests with the Houthis," noting that this agenda prevents its cooperation with the Security Council.
