A stifling electricity crisis in Al-Dhalea

Dhalea Governorate is experiencing a stifling electricity crisis, with power outages reaching more than 12 hours a day, which is the worst electricity crisis the governorate has witnessed in years.
Local sources reported today, Friday, that the city of Al-Dhalea, the center of the governorate, is suffering from an almost complete power outage, as residents are provided with electricity for only one hour, compared to long hours of outage.
The sources indicated that this crisis is unprecedented during the winter compared to previous years, which increases the suffering of the population in light of the deterioration of other basic services.
The liberated areas in Yemen, including Al-Dhalea, are witnessing repeated crises in the electricity sector, as a result of the deterioration of infrastructure, fuel shortages, and administrative corruption, as citizens resort to alternative solutions such as solar panels, which burden them economically due to their high costs.
The continuous power outages exacerbated the damage to the health and economic sectors.
Medical sources explain that hospitals and health centers face great challenges in operating the necessary medical equipment, while commercial and industrial activities have been greatly affected, which has exacerbated the residents’ suffering.
Citizens called on the local authority and the Ministry of Electricity to quickly intervene and develop urgent solutions to the crisis, while some accused government agencies of negligence and fabricating the crisis for personal gain without taking into consideration the suffering of citizens.
