The Houthis declare a state of emergency in Sanaa

The Houthi militia, internationally classified as a terrorist group, declared a state of emergency in the capital, Sanaa, and the rest of the areas under its control, in a move that reflects a possible security and military escalation.
The announcement came during an emergency meeting held by Abdul Karim Amir al-Din al-Houthi, who holds the position of Minister of the Interior in the internationally unrecognized coup government, in the capital, Sanaa.
During the meeting, Abdul Karim Al Houthi called for raising the state of maximum alert among the ranks of the militia's security forces, pointing out what he described as "malicious conspiracies" aimed at destabilizing their authority.
This step comes in conjunction with increasing indications of widespread popular dissatisfaction in areas under Houthi control, amid worsening living conditions and ongoing militia violations.
The declaration of emergency and maximum security vigilance, according to observers, also reflects an indirect recognition by the Houthis of the imminent outbreak of a popular uprising against them.
