The Emergency Committee in Shabwa Governorate, today, Monday, called on international organizations and other donors to carry out their responsibility and their desired role in combating cholera, which has spread in the governorate in recent weeks.
This came during a committee meeting headed by the Secretary-General of the Governorate’s Local Council, Abd Rabbuh Hashala Nasser, where the committee reviewed the level of precautionary measures that had been taken, stressing the need to redouble efforts in order to prevent the spread of the disease.
The committee praised Governor Awad Bin Al-Wazir’s follow-up and interest in the committee’s work tasks, and also expressed its appreciation for the role that the Belgian Doctors Without Borders organization has played and is continuing to support and assist the official efforts that have been made and are being made to combat the disease.
It is noteworthy that cholera has spread in camps for illegal immigrants in Shabwa Governorate. Reports say that the cases of infection have so far reached more than 200 cases, including 3 deaths.
