The United Nations expressed its concern about the raids launched by the Israeli occupation on Yemen and the Houthi firing of missiles at Jaffa and Tel Aviv in the occupied Palestinian territories, calling for the exercise of the utmost restraint.
The United Nations spokesman said in a statement that the air strikes came after a year of escalating Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and the region, which threaten regional stability and freedom of navigation.
The statement explained that Secretary-General António Guterres reminds all parties to adhere to their obligations under international humanitarian law and to respect and protect civilians as well as civilian infrastructure.
Guterres stressed that recent developments undermine the mediation efforts led by UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg to reach a political solution to the conflict in Yemen
The United Nations renewed its call to exercise maximum restraint and protect civilians in Yemen.
Earlier, the Houthis announced targeting the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and a number of its destroyers in conjunction with its attack on Yemen.
The military spokesman for the Houthis, Yahya Saree, said that his group thwarted an American-British attack on Yemen, and carried out the operation with eight winged missiles and seventeen drones.
He added that the operation led to the downing of an F-18 plane, while the destroyers were trying to confront the drones and missiles.
The US Central Command announced that its forces had mistakenly shot down an American fighter over the Red Sea, with its two pilots surviving.
It indicated in a statement that the two pilots survived using the ejection seat system, with one of them sustaining minor injuries, describing the incident as a “friendly fire incident,” and confirmed the opening of an investigation to uncover the circumstances of the incident.
The Houthis also announced that the US-British coalition launched air strikes on the capital, Sanaa.
The group's controlled Saba news agency reported that the attacks targeted the Attan area in Sanaa, without mentioning the targets or results of the raids.
