A source in the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Iraq had recently received American demands calling on it to end the activities of the Yemeni Houthi group inside its territory, including the office operating in Baghdad.
The source explained, according to a report published by Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, that Washington had made recommendations to the Iraqi government stating that the continued presence of the group and its activities of an uncivil nature might drag Iraq into the repercussions of regional crises and expose it to the risk of their extension.
He added that the Iraqi government, headed by Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, takes these warnings into consideration to avoid any negative repercussions on the internal situation.
The source confirmed that the majority of the group’s activities are limited to the media aspect, indicating that there is an exaggeration on the part of the Americans in portraying the extent of their presence or influence inside Iraq.
