A horrific crime occurred today in the town of “Thaoub” in the “Khabaz” district of Al-Udayn District, where Hajj Muhammad Mahyoub Al-Shahari was shot while receiving condolences for the death of his wife.
Local sources reported that the gunmen fired more than 30 bullets at him, wounding him seriously. He was transferred to a hospital in the city of Ibb to receive treatment, as there are no confirmations about his health condition yet, amid reports of his death.
According to the sources, this incident comes in the context of ongoing vendettas between the Al-Dumaini and Al-Wasili families on the one hand, and the Al-Shahari family on the other hand, as these conflicts feed the Houthi militia that controls the governorate.
In a post on his Facebook page, Fahd Muhammad Al-Shahari expressed his denunciation of the continuation of “oppression and injustice” in the Tha’oub area, pointing to the actual absence of the state and rational people, and confirmed that “his cousin Muhammad Mahyoub Al-Shahari fell, covered in his blood, by murderers and criminals” during Funeral period.
Al-Shahari accused the security services affiliated with the Houthi militia in Al-Udayn District of colluding with the militants, pointing out that these agencies deal with issues from the perspective of “whoever pays more kills more,” which led to widespread chaos and crimes in the region.
Al-Shahari held those agencies responsible for the continued bloodshed in the Thaoub area, and demanded that the gang responsible for the crime be pursued and its members brought to justice. He stressed the need for security authorities to intervene urgently to stop repeated attacks and protect citizens.
