Local sources revealed that the body of the woman who was kidnapped by the Houthi group a few days ago was found from inside one of the displacement camps in Hodeidah Governorate, western Yemen.
The Information Office in Hodeidah Governorate, in a post on its official Facebook page on Saturday, quoted the sources as saying: “Today at dawn, the body of the displaced woman kidnapped by the Houthis, Fatima Ayesh Ahmed (45 years old), was found in a remote area outside the center.” Al-Durayhimi District, south of the governorate.
He added that the discovery of the body came about ten days after the Houthis kidnapped her from her home in the Markouda camp for displaced people in the Al-Durayhimi District, “and she showed signs of brutal torture, indicating that she had been tortured to death.”
The Human Rights Office in the Directorate confirmed, last Thursday, in an official statement, that it “documented that armed elements affiliated with the Houthi group kidnapped Fatima Ayesh from her home in the displaced persons’ camp.”
He pointed out that the gunmen who were wearing masks stormed the victim’s house, kidnapped her on board a military vehicle, and forcibly took her to an unknown location, without providing any justifications or accusations.
The Information Office explained that “this crime comes within the framework of a series of violations committed by the group against civilians, including kidnapping, murder, and torture, which raises widespread concern about the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the areas under its control.”
