Yemen Today Channel condemns the execution of its correspondent, Muhammad Al-Muqri, at the hands of Al-Qaeda

Yemen Today Channel strongly condemned the terrorist crime represented by the execution of our colleague Muhammad Al-Muqri, the channel’s correspondent in Hadhramaut, at the hands of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization. The channel confirmed that Al-Maqri, who was kidnapped by the organization in 2015, was a victim of the organization's extremist methods targeting journalists.
In an official statement, the channel confirmed that this crime reflects the efforts of extremist organizations to obscure the truth and silence mouths, noting that these groups permit everything in the name of religion, and he is innocent of them.
The statement also indicated that Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula had confessed in a statement to the crime of executing Al-Maqri and ten others, which highlights the dangers facing media professionals in conflict areas.
The channel expressed its strong condemnation of this criminal act, considering that targeting journalists constitutes a threat to press freedom. She called for the need to protect media professionals from the violent practices of extremist groups that have turned the profession of journalism into a charge requiring prosecution.
