Fadl Al-Jaadi, Secretary-General of the Southern Transitional Council, commented on what he described as “misuse of revenues” by the Central Bank in Marib in a post on his official Facebook page.
Al-Jaadi said in his post, “The Central Bank in Marib operates independently from the Central Bank in the capital, Aden, and is unwilling to reveal the numbers of its local revenues and expenditures.”
He added that this situation is a simple example of the misuse of revenues in the country, noting that this money is accumulating in the hands of the plunderers while the Yemeni citizen bears the heavy burden of lack of services and high prices.
Al-Jaadi stressed that the simple citizen is the one who pays the price in light of the continuing economic deterioration and the absence of oversight and accountability over public revenue management, stressing the need for transparency in the management of financial resources to ensure justice and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
Al-Jaadi indicated that this situation reflects the misuse of public funds away from the interest of the citizen, who suffers from deteriorating living conditions in many areas.
Al-Jaadi’s comment comes at a time when Al-Jaadi is experiencing major economic challenges, with prices continuing to rise and basic services lacking in various regions.
