Journalist Salah Al-Saqladi described the demonstrations that took place in the city of Aden today as “the largest mass gathering in years,” expressing his astonishment at the size of the crowd and the intensity of popular participation.
Al-Saqladi pointed out in a post on Facebook: These demonstrations reflect a state of escalating popular anger due to the deteriorating living and service conditions in the city, stressing that this spark may ignite a widespread social explosion.
Al-Saqladi drew attention to the fact that these demonstrations came despite the lack of media coverage, noting that the size of participation would have been much greater if the demonstrations had received sufficient media coverage.
Al-Saqladi said: “The fireball that started burning today will burn more day after day, and will roll on the heads of the corrupt officials who have caused the suffering of the Yemeni people.”
He added: “The message of these demonstrations is clear, which is that the Yemeni people will not accept silence over injustice and corruption, and will continue to struggle for their legitimate rights.”
