The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, discussed with Omani officials in Muscat the latest developments in the Yemeni crisis as the implementation of the road map reached by Saudi Arabia and the Houthis continues to falter after negotiations mediated by the Sultanate’s leaders.
The Omani Foreign Ministry explained that the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Khalifa Al-Harithi, and a number of officials in the ministry, reviewed with Grundberg the developments in the region and the latest developments in the Yemeni issue.
She indicated that the meeting discussed the efforts made to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis, without further details.
Meanwhile, Reuters correspondent Muhammad Al-Ghobari said that the UN envoy is scheduled to arrive in Sanaa tomorrow, indicating that he is waiting for the man to bring new ideas regarding reviving the faltering peace process, and developments in the situation in the Red Sea and the region.
The envoy's last visit to Sana'a was in May 2023.
