Today, Wednesday, the US military carried out precise strikes on Houthi facilities in Yemen, noting that they were used to launch attacks against commercial ships in the Red Sea.
The US Central Command (Centcom) forces said in a statement today, “We carried out multiple precise strikes against two underground facilities for storing advanced conventional weapons (ACW) belonging to the Houthis and supported by Iran within the territory controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.”
The statement also said that the Houthis used these facilities to launch attacks against warships and commercial ships of the US Navy in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The statement indicated that there were no casualties to individuals or damage to American equipment, stressing that these strikes are part of the efforts of the US Central Command to reduce the attempts of the Iranian-backed Houthis to threaten regional partners and military and commercial ships in the region.
7 raids
On the other hand, Houthi media announced the occurrence of 5 American-British raids on the Harf Sufyan District in Amran Governorate, and two raids on the Sanhan District in Sana’a.
The Iran-aligned group in Yemen has been attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea for more than a year in an attempt to impose a naval blockade on Israel, saying it is acting in solidarity with the Palestinians in Israel's ongoing war in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
While the US-led coalition responded by launching raids for months, targeting Houthi sites in various regions of Yemen due to naval attacks, which was met with a response from the group from time to time.
