Houthis: Our attacks on commercial ships will be limited to those linked to Israel

The Houthis announced that they would limit themselves to targeting ships belonging to the Israeli occupation only in the Red Sea corridor, at a time when the ceasefire came into effect in the Gaza Strip.
This came in an email sent by the Houthis to shipping companies and others yesterday, Sunday, according to what Reuters reported.
The center, which is responsible for communication between the Houthis and commercial shipping companies, added in an email to shipping sector officials on January 19 that it had decided to stop “sanctions” against ships owned by individuals or entities from the United States or Britain, or those that Flying the flag of either country.
He said in the letter, “We confirm that in the event of any aggression against the Republic of Yemen by America or Britain... sanctions will be re-imposed on the aggressor... we will immediately inform you of such measures if they are implemented.”
The center added that targeting ships linked to “Israel” will stop “upon full implementation of all stages of the agreement” between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
Separately, the Houthis intend to issue a military statement today, Monday, most likely regarding the decision.
Many of the largest shipping companies in the world stopped operating their ships through the Red Sea and diverted them to the Cape of Good Hope route to avoid being exposed to any attack.
More than 100 attacks carried out by the Iran-aligned Houthis on ships since November 2023 led to the sinking of two ships, the confiscation of a third, and the killing of at least four sailors.
The Houthis are targeting the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which are connected by the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which is a crossing point between the Horn of Africa and the Middle East.
Hamas released three Israeli hostages, while the Israeli occupation released 90 Palestinian prisoners on Sunday, on the first day of a ceasefire that stopped a 15-month war that caused much destruction in the Gaza Strip and caused major transformations in the Middle East.
Almost every week since November 2023, the Houthis have targeted Israeli ships, which later expanded to British and American ships, with ballistic missiles and drones in the waters near the shores of Yemen as part of solidarity with the Palestinians.
