Classifying the Houthis as a terrorist organization...an American move that receives support from the Southern Transitional Council

The Southern Transitional Council welcomed US President Donald Trump’s decision to classify the Houthi group as a “foreign terrorist organization,” considering it a decisive step that reflects an American and international commitment to confronting the militia’s terrorist activities.
The Council confirmed in a statement issued by it that this decision comes within the framework of international efforts to limit the Houthis’ military capabilities and economic resources, and prevent their hostile activities that threaten global shipping and trade lines, in addition to putting an end to the suffering of civilians in Yemen.
The statement indicated that the terrorist Houthi militias, with the support of Tehran, have proven that they only understand the language of deterrence, which requires taking firm international measures.
The President of the Southern Transitional Council and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, called in many regional and international forums for finding a comprehensive strategy to eliminate terrorism practiced by militias in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The statement added that President Trump's decision is an important step that requires concerted international efforts at all political, economic and military levels.
The Southern Transitional Council affirmed its readiness to work with regional partners and international allies to ensure deterrence of threats resulting from Houthi terrorist activities, paving the way for restoring security and stability to Yemen and the region.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that this decision paves the way for a comprehensive and just political process that restores hope to the Yemenis in achieving peace and stability.
