The Joint Naval Forces (CMF) announced the seizure of approximately 2,400 kilograms of drugs in the Arabian Sea, in southern Yemen, in their first operation during the year 2025.
The joint forces said in a press statement, on Tuesday, that a US Coast Guard's warship operates within the task force (CTF 150) managed to seize 2,357 kilograms of hashish on a ship in the Arabian Sea.
The statement added that the operation that took place on February 7, is the first drug control process carried out by the (Joint Task Force 150) since New Zealand took its leadership on January 15th.
The naval forces explained that the war ship intercepted the suspected ship, and the inspection team climbed on board to discover the drug shipment, and after the seizure, documentation and weight of the illegal load, “crew members have eliminated the drug properly.”
The New Zealand Maritime Brigadier Roger Ward indicated; Leader (the Force of Tasks 150), that this process is the result of "a collective effort and it was not possible to achieve this process had it not been for the support of the 46 countries that form the joint navy".
Ward emphasized that every raid carried out by the navy "reduces the flow of money to terrorist organizations. For this reason we are here, to contribute to maritime security and protect the international regime based on the bases."
The (Task Force 150) is one of the five working teams of the Joint Naval Forces, and its mission is to deter and disrupt the ability of non -governmental actors to transport weapons or drugs and other illegal materials in the Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. >
It is noteworthy that the joint navy is the largest naval partnership in the world that includes 46 countries that support the international system based on bases by enhancing security and stability through 3.2 million square miles of water that includes some of the most important shipping corridors in the world.
