Journalist Yacoub Al-Sufyani, director of the South Center for News and Studies, said that Saudi Arabia funded and trained the National Shield Forces to create a southern version of the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces, ready to open an internal battle at any moment.
Al-Sufyani indicated in a tweet on his Twitter account that the appearance of the Commander of the Homeland Shield Forces, Brigadier General Bashir Al-Subaihi, alongside Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi in Aden today, reflects a change in the position of the forces.
Al-Sufyani added that the appearance of Al-Subaihi alongside Al-Zubaidi confirms that the Homeland Shield Forces are part of the south, and that protecting and defending the homeland is shared, before which any other calculations fade.
Al-Sufyani continued that this step deserves respect, and indicates that Saudi Arabia may have backed away from its plan to establish the National Shield Forces as a southern version of the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces.
The President of the Transitional Council, Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, welcomed the presence of Brigadier General Bashir Al-Subaihi during Al-Zubaidi’s meeting with southern military and security leaders, stressing that this reflects a great keenness by the leadership of the National Shield Forces to coordinate and integrate efforts on various fronts and military sites, and to strengthen the unity of the ranks. And the internal front.
